Your holiday

Cape Coral is flourishing and it’s easy to see why. Set around 400 miles of canals across the Caloosahatchee River from the city of Fort Myers, the town is ideally situated for boaters, just minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. Coronado comes with a modern motorboat as standard because there is no better way to explore this unspoilt coastline and its barrier islands of Sanibel, Captiva and Fort Myers Beach half an hour away by water or road.

Dropping anchor and wading to one of the area’s famous white sandy beaches to pick some shells and mooring at a waterfront restaurant for lunch becomes a daily reality. Or you may prefer to watch the dolphins, manatees, ospreys, pelicans and try your angling skills to see what draws large numbers of fishermen here from all over the world. The local lifestyle is centered on the water and year round sunshine but that is not the whole story.

The area has a wide choice of top grade golf courses, superb tennis facilities, a huge choice of shopping and a vast selection of great restaurants. Cape Coral is pretty much the opposite in style to the developed tourist area around Orlando but is actually just three hours drive from the Disney attractions there. The Kennedy Space Centre, on the east coast, is a worth-while day trip if you decide to visit Orlando and stay over.

Coronado has a superb location:

  • It is within walking distance of downtown Cape Coral’s main shopping area and restaurants.
  • The city of Fort Myers, with even more extensive shopping and restaurant facilities, is easily accessible in minutes via the Cape Coral bridge.
  • Cape Coral beach can be reached in less than 10 minutes and the beaches of Fort Myers Beach are approximately 20 minutes by car.
  • Sanibel and Captiva islands are about 20-25 minutes by car (or a little longer by boat).
  • Everglades City and the upmarket town of Naples are an hour’s drive
  • A locally-based daily boat service can take you to Key West inside of four hours.
  • It is only 25 minutes from South West Florida Regional Airport in Fort Myers
  • Tampa International airport is perhaps a 2½ hour drive.
  • Miami International is little more than 2½ hours away.

Local activities include boating, deep sea fishing, jet-skiing, golf, cycling, RC model aircraft flying, tennis, hunting, parasailing, swimming, diving, kayaking, water skiing and windsurfing.

There are museums and theme parks all near enough for a day’s outing.

Or you may, of course, prefer to just do what comes naturally to those that live in this paradise and relax by the pool and savour the superb year round sunny climate and some of the most impressive sunsets you’ll see anywhere.
